BIBLICALLY BASED PURPOSE
New Beginning Community Church is composed of Christians continuing the ministry of Jesus Christ in the world today!
BIBLICALLY BASED AGENDA
The church’s life is based on five commands of Jesus.
WORSHIP: John 4:23 “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.”
WORD: John 8:31–32 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
PRAYER: John 16:23 “At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.”
EVANGELISM: Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
MINISTRY: Mark 9:35 He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
BIBLICALLY BASED ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
ELDERS: No New Testament church had a single pastor! Every New Testament church had a plurality of leaders called elders, pastors, bishops or overseers. These titles are used interchangeably in the New Testament for this office! The responsibilities of elders are fourfold.
- PROVIDE LEADERSHIP for the church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God’s word.
- FEED the church by accurately teaching the Bible.
- PROTECT the church from false doctrine and wolves in sheep’s clothing.
- CARE for the needs of the membership.
DEACONS: the word deacon means “through the dust” and is translated servant. The deacons and elders work together in caring for the needs of the membership in the following ways:
- PRAYING for those assigned to their care.
- ENCOURAGING them during the trials and tribulations of life.
- ADDRESSING needs as they arise.
- CHALLENGING them to grow in Christlikeness.
TEACHERS: These people are the individuals who study God’s word; then, teach and explain it to others for the purpose of daily application.
BIBLICALLY BASED PLAN OF SALVATION
The Bible clearly teaches all men have sinned. Sin has become a barrier between man and God; therefore, all men are in need of salvation. This salvation is made possible because God sent his Son, Jesus, to die on the cross of Calvary to atone for the sins of mankind. Man’s proper response to God’s offer of salvation can be summarized with four words.
- CONFESSION: One must admit he is a sinner in need of salvation. Based on Jesus’ sacrifice; one must ask God for forgiveness for his rebellion and sins. (Luke 18:13)
- REPENTANCE: One must be willing, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, to turn away from a life of habitual sin. (Matt. 3:2)
- SUBMISSION: One must be willing, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, to begin living a life of obedience to God and his word. (Luke 6:46)
- CHANGE: If a person is truly saved, he will be transformed into a new person by the Holy Spirit. (2 Cor. 5:17)
BIBLICALLY BASED DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
WE BELIEVE in one God who is the supreme creator of the universe who expresses himself as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
WE BELIEVE the sixty-six books of the Bible were inspired by God. The Old Testament was written by men called Prophets and the New Testament was written by or authorized by men called Apostles. The Bible teaches us what is right, what is not right, how to get right and how to stay right. The Bible is the only source of absolute truth and authority for the church and individual Christian.
WE BELIEVE man was created good and was the crowning glory of God’s creative process, but rebelled against God and is in need of salvation.
WE BELIEVE Jesus, as God, became a human being, came to earth to reveal God, teach man how to live godly lives and offered his sinless body on the cross as a sacrifice for all the sins of mankind. Jesus died, was buried, was raised from the dead after three days, appeared to many of his followers for a forty-day period, ascended back to heaven, now seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven and coming again. Jesus is not a way of salvation; he is the only way of salvation.
WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit is equally God. The Spirit always has been and always will be. The Spirit convicts man of his sins, his need of salvation and the coming judgment. The Spirit enters a person at the moment of salvation and becomes his Helper and Guide through life. A person is baptized one time with the Spirit at the moment of salvation and is filled perpetually with the Spirit as he yields to him continuously and habitually.
WE BELIEVE the contemporary church has the responsibility to continue the ministry of Jesus. Jesus ministered through one physical body during his earthly ministry. Today, he ministers through the lives of every person who surrenders to him as Lord and Savior.
WE BELIEVE in the second coming of Jesus Christ at the end of time. All of mankind will face a final judgment being divided into two groups with the lost going to hell for eternity and the saved going to heaven for eternity. The first creation will be destroyed by fire and God will create a new heaven and earth where he will live with his followers forever in a perfect society. No more pain, sorrow, death or suffering!
